Application and selection of compressors in the breathing diving industry
In the respiratory diving industry, compressors play a core role in filling diving cylinders with high-pressure gas, providing a safe source of breathing air.
Different diving scenarios have different requirements:
Recreational diving: Air must be compressed to 200-300 bar to fill standard 12L/15L cylinders. The air undergoes multi-stage compression and cooling, and passes through a filtration system to remove oil, water, and impurities to ensure pure gas. Diving clubs often use small, fixed equipment that can simultaneously fill multiple cylinders.
Technical diving (deep diving, mixed gas diving): These requirements are more stringent. For example, when diving to depths exceeding 40 meters, helium and oxygen mixtures are used. The compressor must precisely control the gas ratio and compress to over 200 bar. Offshore platforms and other locations are equipped with large, high-flow equipment with mixing functions to continuously fill a specific gas mixture.
Key considerations when selecting a compressor:
Pressure: Match the rated pressure of the cylinder (200-300 bar for recreational use, higher for technical diving) to ensure consistent compliance.
Flow rate: For large-scale operations, choose a high-flow model to improve efficiency; for smaller operations, choose a moderate flow rate based on demand.
Purity: Requires a high-efficiency filtration system with an oil content of ≤0.01mg/m³, removing moisture and micron-sized particles. Multi-layer filtration technology is more reliable.
